I grew up listening to Joan Baez, Don McLean, Joni Mitchell, Tracy Chapman, and Peter, Paul and Mary, and they are whom I think about when I write music. I like the idea of folk, of music for common people about common things. I'm not sophisticated or ironic or indie in any way, but I hope to be honest and beautiful, in a plain kind of way.
